By nature, the hospitality industry is a large consumer of energy and other resources. Esperanza Resort & SPA is actively involved in conserving resources (biodiversity, ecosystems and landscapes), as well as reducing pollution. To ensure the proper implementation of this policy, we have developed specific objectives and will monitor their progress and performance. Where required, proper corrective action will be implemented and these objectives will regularly be reviewed and improved when necessary. To guide the operations of the hotel to achieve the highest standards in energy and water conservation and waste reduction the impact on environmental quality and economic performance must be considered. To accomplish this goal, the hotel established procedures to consider energy and water use and waste reduction in the design and operation of hotel facilities in the most economical and environmentally friendly manner possible. By educating the hotel staff on the use of energy, water and waste reduction, the benefits gained include, but are not limited to; the protection of ecosystems, improvement of air and water quality, waste reduction and the conservation of resources contributing to sustainability. Hotel facilities shall, to the extent possible, be designed, constructed, renovated, operated and maintained in accordance with the latest energy and water efficiency standards. The hotel shall:

1. Ensure energy and water efficiency and conservation is a central consideration for business and operations.
2. Decisions concerning investments for renovations or new construction of facilities at the hotel should be based on the total cost of ownership or the life cycle cost analysis.
3. Identify and strive to implement the strategies identified and utilize options that are the least costly.
4. Evaluate and compare alternative energy sources for short and long-term costs while considering future projections and the availability and price escalation of all energy sources.

Conserve Energy – reduce energy by switching off lights and closing windows if the heating is on. Esperanza Resort & SPA monitors its energy levels and aiming for an annual 5 % reduction.

Give the car a rest – leave the car behind, if only for a day. Walk, cycle and if necessary use a shuttle bus.

Shop local – use local products, they give you a flavor of the area and help support local communities. We are fortunate to have some fantastic Lithuanian producers of food, drink and arts and crafts in our region. Esperanza Resort & SPA is proud to support local food producers and use seasonal and organic produce  and especially products grown in our own garden.

Reduce, reuse, recycle – try to avoid overly packaged goods and say no to that extra carrier bag. Try and recycle any waste you have. Esperanza Resort & SPA has recycling facilities for organic waste – please ask at housekeeping.

Be water wise – please use water wisely and do not leave taps running. Esperanza Resort & SPA – has water saving devices like motion-controlled water taps in toilets and Japanese iZen smart bidet.

Respect nature – help us look after the landscape and wildlife by not littering, guarding against fire and using footpaths responsibly. Esperanza Resort & SPA gardens and grounds are available for all hotel guests to enjoy. We are keen to promote biodiversity in line with the Environmental Protection Act, by protecting eco systems, wildlife and rare plants.
